Half Ass Wine Collection

1/2 ASS is dedicated to the artful expression of blending wine. Its meaning runs deep in my soul and my belief that wine starts in the vineyard but truly great wines start from the heart and of a passion within, an artistic expression of a moment that will never be again nor created by another and seeded by a love for the area from which you craft your wine and a willingness to nurture this until it may be shared.

These limited release blends are a tribute to living life to the fullest as nothing in life should be done 1/2 ASS.

Smasne Cellars

For over 100 years the Smasne family has farmed in the heart of Washington’s Wine Country, the Yakima River Valley. Built on a foundation of family, farming, heritage, love for the valley and passion for wine, our mission is to handcraft limited-release, world-class wines.

I invite you to experience the rewards of our efforts and thank you for sharing our family’s dream.

Smasne Owens Reserve

The wine itself is crafted from three of my favorite vineyards; Lawrence in the Royal Slope, Upland on Snipes Mountain and Phinny Hill in the Horse Heaven Hills. This blend captures the essence of Washington’s Terroir with remarkable balance and elegance. Dominate Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) the wine is classic, bold and expressive. The 21% Petit Verdot adds weight, depth, dark fruits and an amazing texture which leads to the lushness of fruit and refined tannins from the Malbec (9%) and hints of spice, subtle earth from the Carmenere (3%). Barrel aged for 29 months in 100% NewFrench Oak and bottle aged for over a year and a half before released showcases the true quality of this Reserve Bordeaux Blend.

The Farmer

From the glow of the morning light to the dim of the setting sun, the FARMER, meticulously nurtures this fertile land. Often overlooked, with skills passed down for generations, the Farmers dedication provides for his family and for yours.

For over 100 years the Smasne family has farmed in the heart of Washington’s Wine Country, the Yakima River Valley. It is here where I experienced a harvest every year of my life and where my father, my grandfather and great- grandfather chased the relentless dreams of the Farmer.
